I agree on all points. After watching the video, it makes me wonder if maybe the age of requiring a huge budget toward HD graphics to remain competative will taper off. Maybe when churning out super-realistic graphics becomes easier to do, creativity can flourish once again.

I find it interesting that you mention that, since I'm noticing that an increasing amount of lower budget indie-games are holding my interest a whole lot longer than many AAA rated, high budget games. And I think the industry as a whole is noticing as well. "Classic" (and disenfranchised) creators such as Brian Fargo and Chris Roberts are having massive responses on Kickstarter. Additionally, smaller studios backed by more established and successful industry "players" -- such as ThatGameCompany's game Journey having the backing of Santa Monica Studios and being heavily marketed through the Playstation Store -- also belie a pending potential paradigm shift in video gaming, IMO.

I don't disagree. I've purchased several Santa Monica games, and $15 for I Am Alive was a great deal for the quality of that game. Getting the games out of the publishers hands and back into the developers by way of Kickstarter is a pretty sweet trend to start.
Paizo just made over 1 million in Kickstarter funds to augment and accelerate development of the Pathfinder game. The cash is definately available.
